Padmaka
Himalayan Cherry, Wild Himalayan Cherry · Wild Himalayan Cherry (Prunus cerasoides)
The Himalayan bark that cools burning skin and shields against oxidative stress.
Classical Ayurvedic
Heritage.
A deciduous tree from the Himalayan belt at 1500–3000 metres. Its bark carries a fragrance resembling lotus — hence Padmaka. Pitta-pacifying, Sheeta virya. Referenced in Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya for burning sensation, skin disorders, blisters, blood disorders, and fever.
Evidence-Based
Validation.
Padmaka bark contains a rich range of naturally occurring plant compounds. Studies have found its extracts to reduce swelling and inflammation, support wound healing, and offer antibacterial and antioxidant protection for the skin.
Purpose-Driven
Formulation.
Classical Ayurveda places Padmaka among the primary herbs for Daha (burning sensation) and Kushtha (skin disorders) — direct manifestations of Pitta aggravation under physical stress. For the athlete, its cooling and anti-inflammatory action addresses the heat and surface irritation generated by exertion, while its anthocyanins and flavonoids provide antioxidant protection against exercise-induced oxidative stress.
